Simeoni-Armstrong
Summonses for Bettini and Others

Wed Sep 29 19:33:04 2004 (EDT in North America)

Italian Police officers have advised that they will be issuing summonses to several riders at
the Worlds Road Race on Sunday.

The sunmmonses are understood to relate to the Lance Armstrong-Filippo Simeoni-Michele Ferrari
affair.

Filippo Simeoni gave evidence at the trial of Michele Ferrari for supplying doping products
to riders.

Armstrong had used the services of Ferrari and Armstrong acted in a menacing manner towards
Simeoni at the recent Tour de France which might be interpreted as an attempt by Armstrong
to silence Simeoni.

In any instance, Armstrong's actions were at least childish and at worst menacing and were
thought by many to be sufficient grounds for the Tour officials to have sanctioned Armstrong.

The summonses are believed to bear the names of Bettini and three other non Italian riders.

Bettini it will be remembered was one of the few riders who sided with Simeoni during Armstrong's
disgraceful exhibition at the Tour de France.

Armstrong himself has come under close scrutiny after the publication of a recent book which
purports to implicate Armstrong himself in illegal performance enhancing practices.

Worlds Championship
Mens Time Trial - Michael Rogers

Wed Sep 29 10:49:14 2004

The results of the Worlds Time Trial Championship offered up no real surprises insofar as the
podium spots were concerned.

Australia's Rogers was universal favourite to repeat with Michael Rich (Germany) and
Alexandre Vinokourov (Kazakhstan) in second and third spots but not necessarily in that
order.

But Rogers didn't just win; he massacred the competition after a trailing at the first
time check at 6.3 km. and had over a minute on the second placed Rich on the finish line.

Bardolino, Italy - Sept 29 - 46.75 Km. - Results
1. Michael Rogers (Australia) 57 min 30 sec
2. Michael Rich (Germany) + 1 min 12 sec
3. Alexandre Vinokourov (Kazakhstan) + 1 min 24 sec

Ullrich: 1.6 million Euros from Coast
Wed Sep 29 07:05:32 2004

Coast, the former team of Jan Ullrich for year 2003, is to pay him €1.6 million for wages
the sponsor owed him when it was suspended by the International Ciclists' Union in 2003
for the non payment of wages, a court in Duisburg has ruled today.

The 30 year old German, winner of the Tour de France in 1997, was awarded wages and interest
and the Court has advised that it is holding approximately that amount in trust.

Ullrich: First ``No'' to Time Trial, Now ``No'' to Road Race
Wed Sep 29 06:24:54 2004

Germany's Jan Ullrich decided several days ago not to ride today's World Championship Time Trial
citing gastroenteritis as the offending malady, but confided that he should be fit for the Road Race
which will be contested Sunday in Verona, Italy.

However, his manager, Rudy Pevenage, advises that the gastroenteritis has proven to be more persistent
than was prognosticated originally and that Ullrich will not in fact dispute the Road Race on Sunday.
