Changes probable to Tour de France Format
Posted Wed Oct 27 11:27:02 2004 (EDT in North America)

Longer Prologue, fewer Time Trials and Mountain Top finishes rumoured.

Organisers of the 2005 Tour de France are set to announce changes when the route is unveiled on Thursday.

It is rumoured only one time trial and three mountain finishes will feature, as opposed to the customary
two trials and four to six high-altitude finales.

There is expected to be a longer prologue than usual on 2 July but the only time trial is set to take
place in St Etienne on the penultimate day.

Lance Armstrong will be seeking to win his seventh title in Paris next year.
