2nd Jayco Tour of Queensland - Australia - Cat. 2.5
Sat, 6 Nov 20:12:00 2004 -0500
Jonas Ljungblad racked up his second win in a major Australian stage race in a month today as he
sprinted to victory in the final stage of the 2nd. Jayco Tour of Queensland. Following his win
in the Herald Sun Tour earlier this month he will indeed be a rider to watch when he returns to Europe
to join the Rabobank development squad.

Riding an intelligent race, the Swedish rider had not been prominent in the rankings until he won the
Mount Perry mountain climb time trial yesterday after placing well in the Gin Gin to Mount Perry road
race yesterday morning.

Ljungblad did not win the final Bundaberg Criterium, but did win five of the eleven bonus sprints on
offer and gained enough time to edge out overnight leader, Germany's Thomas Liese, by a meagre two seconds.

18th. Tour de Burkina Faso: Stage 9 and 10 (Friday, Saturday)
Sat, 6 Nov 2004 12:47:49 -0500

An early group of 7 on Stage Ten
Immediately from the start, Denis Flahaut, apparently in better shape after the stomach worries he
suffered on the previous day, takes off for a solo effort. He manages to have a 100m lead before
being caught by Ali Thiam (Sen) and Mahamadi Sawadogo (Bur) at first, and then Jérémie Ouedraogo (Bur),
Jean Ilboudo (Bur) and Kris Heremans (Bel). This first break doesn't last however, the peloton
bunches up after 5 kilometres.

Mahamadi Sawadogo unstoppable
The following attempts with three men, then four, then only one and then again with ten riders proves
two things: first of all, gaps never go over the 30'' mark, secondly the peloton never loses time to
react. The maximum break lasts 15 kilometres. The unstoppable Mahamadi Sawadago is almost always in
the attempts. "We just don't know what metal he's made of", admits race entertainer Soufiane Coulibaly.

Flahaut aims at both jerseys
At km 80, a group of 4 manages to have a gap of over 30", but the Burkina armada rapidly organises
the chase and the escapees are caught 5 kilometres from the finish. Two kilometres from promised
land, Stefan Roosen's (Bel) attack looks to be decisive but his 40m lead drops down on the final
straight. The sprint is launched and once again, Denis Flahaut proves to be the most powerful.
But Saïdou Rouamba, 5th in Pouytenga, keeps the green jersey for nine little points. For the final
stage Flahaut will be fighting two battles. He is indeed only 20" adrift in the best young rider
standings, the white jersey is so far still on the shoulders of Senegal's Malick Thiam.

Armstrong: Uncertainty about 2005 Tour de France start
Sat, 6 Nov 2004 08:54:01 -0500

Other events on his agenda

"Honnêtement, je ne sais pas si je serais au départ du Tour. Il y a beaucoup d'autres choses que j'aimerais réaliser
dans le vélo, avant de prendre ma retraite. (...) J'ai gagné un sixième Tour et je suis entré dans l'Histoire.
Maintenant, il est temps de passer à autre chose."

Armstrong, talking with L'Equipe this morning reaffirmed that his participation in the 2005 Tour de France
is uncertain at this time.

He said that there were other events he wanted to contest and other things he wanted to do before he retired.

He did say, however, that he wanted to dispel any rumours that he was boycotting French races because of the
recent book which suggested that he might have used performance enhancing techniques and practices which are
forbidden by the UCI, IOC and WADA regulations.
