Munich Six Day - Night 6 - Tuesday
Tue Nov 16 20:34:54 2004
Scott McGrory-Matthew Gilmore continued their blitzkreig and beat the Slippens-Stam pair by
eleven points as the other pairs lost three or more laps in the blistering final night action.

Up until the end of night four Slippens-Stam had looked like sure fire winners and their loss
on the final night must have been a bitter pill to swallow for the 2003 victors. But the
McGrory-Gilmore win was justice in a way as they won the 2002 event and were denied back to
back wins last year by the Risi-Betschart duo who were relegated to fourth spot, and
Matthew Gilmore now has one more win than his dad who won with Sigi Renz in 1974.

There is now a one week respite before battle is joined again a week from tonight in Ghent on
November 23 and it is a certainty that Slippens-Stam will be out for revenge.

Tyler Hamilton : Athens Olympic Gold in Double Jeopardy
Tue Nov 16 12:29:16 2004

Australian Olympic Committee petitions IOC to award the Bronze Medal in the
Road Cycling Time Trial to Australian Michael Rogers who placed Fourth.

Already petitioned by the Russian Olympic Federation to strip American doper, Tyler Hamilton, of the
Gold Medal he was awarded before a doping control test found him positive for blood transfusion, the
Australian Olympic Committee have now petitioned the IOC on behalf of their rider, Michael Rogers.

The petitions actually work in tandem and will probably be considered as a single petition since the
success of either one would have the effect of moving the currently placed second to fourth riders one
place up the rankings.

Hamilton's second, or "B" sample at the Athens Olympics could not be analysed according to the
laboratory since the sample was frozen thereby rendering it incapable of being definitively analyzed.

But later at the recently concluded Tour of Spain, both his "A" and "B" sample did in fact test positive
for blood transfusion.

Hamilton denies any wrongdoing, but in the face of the scientific evidence against him, many believe that
his denials do not ring true and Hamilton is currently under suspension by his Swiss hearing aid
manufacturer sponsor, Phonak.

Two of Hamilton's team mates have also recently tested positive for doping. Oscar Camenzind of Switzerland
admitted the offence; Spaniard Santiago Perez, like Hamilton, is questioning the validity of the testing
process.

Armstrong : May ride Tour of Flanders
Tue Nov 16 12:29:03 2004

Criticized in the past for being a "One Race" specialist on
account of his preoccupation with the Tour de France,
Armstrong may try his hand at the Classics.

Six-times Tour de France champion Lance Armstrong is planning to compete in next year's one-day
Tour of Flanders.

"I want to prove that I can do this," the American was quoted as saying in Belgian newspaper
Het Volk.

Armstrong has been criticised in the past for being too much of a one-event specialist, and has spoken
about broadening his horizons in 2005.

The 257km Tour of Flanders from Bruges to Meerbeke takes place on 3 April and is partly on cobbled roads.

Germany's Steffen Wesemann won the 88th Tour of Flanders World Cup race last April.

Armstrong's comment was made during an interview to be broadcast on Dutch television in January.

The Texan is the only rider in history to win July's Tour de France six times.

He suggested earlier this month, though, that he may skip next year's race to chase other ambitions.

His team director said a decision would be made on the Tour de France early in 2005.
